into the Consigliere > Invite By Family Code box will equip you with a crap load of mercenaries during your next level up. I have yet to level up but i'll report back when I do.
Also, as far as strategy, does the level of your other family members have any effect during fights?
I've found that the best strategy for me so far has been to concentrate on equipping all of my members with at least one AK-47 and a helmet. This seems to effectively raise my attack and defense without incurring any overhead. Once you start making a lot of money town cars tend to be pretty cost effective as well.
Also, killing capitalists in the morning (especially ones who have a lot of real estate and members yet have not taken the time to arm them as described above) tends to bank me a lot of cash.
